Today I am going to Platform 9 3/4s to buy some whimsey. I am taking an American. I hope they freak out over how Harry Potter-y it is.
Now, to the all important question: What house would you be in…
Let’s all remember that Sorting Hat rhyme:
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
Now of course I would love to be Hufflepuff. They are by far the best people ever. But 11 year old Sophie…no. She would not be Hufflepuff. She might be Ravenclaw. She would want to be Ravenclaw. But would family roots override an individual? If that’s the case, I would be Gryffindor. In fact the Pottermore sorting hat put me there. One thing is for certain, I wouldn’t be Slytherin. I do not have the ambition. My husband is Slytherin. Very much so.
I think I will be Hufflepuff. I might have to work on that “toil” part though.
